Comment:
My father, Sergeant Thomas G. Fliearman, deceased, was a member of the 1987th Communications Squadron as an Air Traffic Controller, Radar Approach Control at NKP from March 1972 to February 1973. I was born in December 1972 while he was stationed at NKP, he came home for a brief leave then returned to finish his tour of duty. My Dad served in the Air Force from April 1969 until November 1975, he later become an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA from February 1977 until August 1981 working at Chicago Center ARTCC until the PATCO strike ended his career prematurely. He passed away on May 17, 1997, at age 47 in Fort Wayne, Indiana after a long battle with Esophageal cancer. I'm looking for any information I can gain from others that may have served with him either during his time in the Air Force or while working at the FAA. I’m his son, Greg Fliearman, a Marine Corps veteran who served from 1990-1998. I have a son, Caleb who my dad never met, that is now serving in the Marine Corps. so; I'm trying to compile a "military history" for Caleb and future generations of our family. I’m doing this to honor both his memory as well as his service to our nation. If you have any information you can share. Please contact me at the email associated with this profile. I can also be found on Facebook and other social media platforms. I thank you for your time and assistance in this effort to not let the sacrifices of all those who served be forgotten and so future generations can learn from all that has come before them. Respectfully, Corporal Gregory T. Fliearman, aka “Lurch” USMCR 1990-1998 |
