Comment: Was a member of 56th SPS 68 & 69 "tiger flight" going outside the perimeter from sundown to sunup. Had periodic trips via Jolly Greens to Laos and beyond. Sometimes not knowing exactly where we were deployed. Missions were to secure downed aircraft and stay in the jungles until aircraft pieces we retrieved and taken back to NKP. Often encountered natives in the jungle not exactly sure if they were friendly or foes. Judging by flying time across the Mekong I am sure we were in areas of Laos and North Vietnam. Missions were secret (Nixon's secret war) so we couldn't leave aircraft in Laos. Sometimes natives would camp with us and we would fire automatic rounds from our Colt M-16s just to keep them honest...Got a severe case of Malaria and was in the hospital in Korat for about one month....Went back to Thailand and Vietnam this year 2024 with my wife and so much is the same but so much has changed as well. |

Comment: DDA to TFA in late 1971. AFSC 99127. Ploted Vampire Oprbits, Daily Sensor Database updates, Terrain Masking for Line of Sight to sensors. Special Project in April 72 with EOD to use Sensors to triangulate NVA Artilery. Rotated to Foreign Technology Division after NKP and almost froze my first year at Wright Pat. Had not seen cold weather in over 18 months or more. As 99127 reinlistment was discouraged and I did not want to go OCS so separated from active duty June 1975 and came back south. Last job was Network Engineer and Network Secuirty Officer for a State Agency. BEST thing about my year at NKP was all the things I learned that Engineers are NEVER taught in school. |

Comment: I hope this reunion event is a tremendous success and repeats. I won't be able to attend this year because of my grandson's HS graduation and his Kentucky HS baseball playoffs. God bless every person who ever set foot on Naked Fanny. |
