Comment: Life Support Specialist AF. NKP April 72-Nov 72. Support duties at NKP, survival skills instructor at DANang. I am Ron's widow and will attempt to fill in as much as I can. Ron died July 2017 and I am attempting to complete a promise I made to him, to finish his VA claim. Loved the Air Force and all the guys he worked with, his job. He retired in 1984, went to work for Tx Legislative Council and built their automation system, where he had 20 employees working 3 shifts. The system is still in place today. He retired from the state in 1995, his health was starting to really go down. Anyone out there that might have worked with or known him during 1972, please contact me. I would love to meet anyone that he worked with and perhaps learn more about his time in SEA. He did not talk about it much. GOD Bless you all. |

Comment: I was a proud member of Navy Squadron VO-67 when we deployed to NKP in 1967 to fly missions over the Ho Chi Minh Trail. We lost 3 aircraft and 20 Navy crew members in a matter of 47 days during January and February 1968. |

Comment:
Detachment 5, 621st Tactical Control Squadron, Call Sign "INVERT" from October 1973 - December 1974. Radar Operator "Scope Dope" 1972-1976 and later cross-trained to C-130 Aircraft Loadmaster 1976-1998. Spent 1984-1995 in a Air Staff position at the Pentagon as the ANG Enlisted Aircrew Manager (managing all ANG enlisted aviators and Pararescue, Combat Controllers, and TACPs). My final active duty assignment was as the Enlisted Superintendent/NCOIC of the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center (AATTC) 1995-1998. I retired as a Chief Master Sergeant with 26 years, 9 months service. While in the USAF and after I retired, I worked as a international business executive for Heil, CompUSA, and Nielsen (1998-2001). I also managed both in-service and post-service to earned 7 university degrees, including a PhD. I have been in academia from 2001 until present with Schreiner University in Texas. I also taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio and at Trident University International. I turn 70 this month (10/17/2022) and I'm still kicking it. Married to Dr. Claudia Marcela Sanchez Hernandez and we've managed to collect 9 kids over the years between us. Keeps us busy. My experience at NKP was formative in my life. It was memorable. I look forward to the NKP reunion. I am a member of the American Legion, a Lifetime member of the Air Commando Association, and the Thailand, Laos, Cambodia Brotherhood (TLCB) |
